Many people did not think we could do this when the season started. Hopkins county has some very good runners in it. Coach Bill Giles and the Saltillo team ran well this weekend. I look for Saltillo and us to both be on the podium at the state meet. In the 1A race Hopkins County (MG, Saltillo, SB) had 12 of the top 20 kids in the region,” said MG coach Gary Billingsley. “I am really proud of the way the boys competed. All of them had their best results at the regional,” said Saltillo coach Bill Giles. “This is the fourth time in five years boys team has qualified for the state meet.” “This was our best finish of the year! The girls have worked extremely hard and have been very coachable,” said Saltillo girls coach Dexter Ivy. This is the first time since 1992 that a girls team from Saltillo qualified for state.
